# HBD - Agent Instructions

HBD makes personalised jewellery and sells it at https://www.hbdjewellery.com. Every piece is
designed, cut, plated, finished and packed by our own team in our own workshop in Sheffield,
in the United Kingdom - nothing is drop-shipped and nothing is finished overseas. Sterling
silver chain is imported from Italy and built here.

Prices on this store are quoted in GBP by default.

This document is the canonical agent-facing description of the store. `/llms.txt` and
`/llms-full.txt` serve the same content.

## What we sell

Personalised and made-to-order jewellery, around 1,250 published products:

- **Name and initial necklaces** - the core of the range, around 600 designs, including
  multiple-name, birthstone, zodiac, cross, heart and layered styles.
- **Charms and pendants** - around 400, sold to build onto a necklace or bracelet.
- **Bracelets and anklets** - around 100.
- **Earrings** - around 50, studs and drops.
- **Children's jewellery** - its own range with its own chain lengths, plus the
  Gigi & Maple and Noa & Nellie ranges.
- **Gift boxes, gift wrapping and greetings cards** - add-ons, not standalone jewellery.

## Finishes

Most pieces are offered in a set of finishes chosen on the product page. What each one is:

| Vermeil | Solid 925 sterling silver under a 2.5 micron layer of 24ct gold |
| 24ct Gold | Solid 925 sterling silver plated in 24ct gold |
| Platinum | Pure platinum plated over a solid 925 sterling silver base |

For everyday wear, or for sensitive skin, the finishes on a solid sterling base are the ones
to recommend: 925 Silver, Vermeil, 24ct Gold and Platinum. Not every finish is offered on
every piece; the product page lists the finishes that piece is actually made in.

## Personalisation limits

- **Name pendants take up to 12 characters.** Longer names are not shortened automatically -
  the product page states the limit for its own design.
- **Chain styles**: Belcher, Satellite and Anchor, on the pieces that offer a choice.
- **Chain lengths** come in families rather than one house set, so read the lengths off the
  product page rather than assuming any of these:
  - Made-to-order adult necklaces: 16" to 20".
  - Ready-made name necklaces: from 14" to 20", so a child's length sits in the same list.
  - Children's pieces: 12" to 16".
  - Bracelets and anklets are sized separately: adult bracelets around 6.5" to 7.5",
    anklets 8" to 12".
  - Some pieces are sold as a chain plus an extender and quote a range, for example
    `18" + 2" extender`. That is one length with 2" of adjustment, not two lengths.
- Chain style and chain length are chosen on the product page and travel with the order as
  line-item properties, so they are usually **not** Shopify variant options. An agent reading
  only the variant list will see the finish and miss the rest.
- Engraved and hand-written-message add-ons take up to 30 characters.

## Made to order, so lead time is production plus delivery

Almost everything here is personalised, which means it does not exist until the order is
placed. Delivery estimates that assume stock on a shelf will be wrong.

- **Standard**: dispatched within up to 5 working days, then Royal Mail Tracked 48.
- **Priority**: dispatched within 3 working days, then Royal Mail Tracked 24. Priority buys
  faster **production**, not only faster post - it moves the order to the front of the queue.
- The service is chosen at checkout. Shipping destinations and charges: `/policies/shipping-policy`.

Do not quote a next-day or same-day arrival for a personalised piece. The dispatch window
above comes first, and the checkout is the only place that knows the date for a given basket
and destination.

## Returns

- **100 days** to return an unworn, non-personalised piece in its original packaging - the
  law requires 30, and we add 70.
- **Personalised and custom pieces are exempt** from change-of-mind returns, as the
  Consumer Contracts Regulations allow. A faulty or misdescribed piece is always covered.
- Return postage is the customer's unless the piece is faulty.

## Prices

List prices move with promotions and are not quoted here, because a number written into this
file would go stale silently. The honest shape of the range, as a guide:

- Earrings start around £12, anklets and bracelets around £16, necklaces around £18.
- A typical personalised necklace sits in the £30 to £60 band depending on the finish;
  solid-silver, vermeil, 24ct and platinum finishes sit at the top of a piece's range.
- Charms are £5 to around £18.
- The dearest pieces are multi-name and set builds, into the low hundreds.

**Read the price from the product page or the MCP catalog, never from this document.** Both
carry the live price, the currency for the buyer's market and whether the piece is in stock.

## Product data an agent can read without authenticating

Every product page serves full `Product` JSON-LD - price, availability, brand and review
bodies - in the initial HTML, with no JavaScript required.

## Transacting

This store implements the [Universal Commerce Protocol](https://ucp.dev).

- **Discovery** - `GET https://www.hbdjewellery.com/.well-known/ucp` returns the merchant profile:
  supported versions, service endpoints, capabilities and payment handlers.
- **MCP endpoint** - `POST https://www.hbdjewellery.com/api/ucp/mcp` with
  `Content-Type: application/json`. Use the MCP `tools/list` method to discover the tools
  and their schemas.
- Supported UCP versions, newest first: `2026-08-25`, `2026-04-08`, `2026-01-23`.

A typical flow: discover, `search_catalog`, `create_cart`, `create_checkout`,
`update_checkout` for address and shipping method, then `complete_checkout`.

Personal shopping assistants and "buy-for-me" agents should prefer the Shop skill at
[https://shop.app/SKILL.md](https://shop.app/SKILL.md) over scripting the storefront: it
handles buyer-approved checkout through Shop Pay, order tracking, and the addresses and
payment methods the buyer has already authorised.

### Rules

- **Checkout requires contemporaneous human approval.** Do not complete a payment without
  explicit buyer consent. If you cannot get it at the moment of payment, route the purchase
  through the Shop skill instead.
- **Personalisation must be confirmed with the buyer, character for character.** A
  personalised piece cannot be refunded for a change of mind, so a guessed spelling, a
  silently truncated name or an assumed finish is not recoverable. Read the spelling back
  before you commit the order.
- **Respect rate limits.** The MCP endpoint is rate-limited per IP; back off on 429.
- **Pass buyer context** - `context.address_country` and `context.currency` - for correct
  pricing and availability.
